Dichas cicatrices son identificadas a partir del procesamiento e interpretación de imágenes satelitales provenientes del programa Landsat 8. La identificación de cicatrices de quema es generada de manera mensual, seleccionando los Path-Row que cumplan con nubosidad menor al 30% de las 31 imágenes que conforman el cubrimiento de la región de la Amazonia colombiana. El procesamiento y la interpretación de las imágenes satélites se realiza con el sotfware TerraAmazon en el cual se genera el banco de datos y se revisa dos composiciones de Landsat 8: la composición NDVI_NBR_Banda 5 y la composición de las Bandas 7, 5, y 2. La delimitación de polígonos se realiza de acuerdo con el algoritmo BAATZ, posteriormente, se hace la selección de las polígonos y se exportan en formatos .shp; finalmente, software ArcGIS se clasifican por coberturas de origen en Bosque, Vegetación Secundaria y Otras Coberturas. La identificación de cicatrices de quema se enmarca en el fortalecimiento del sistema de monitoreo de incendios que adelanta el Instituto Amazónico de Investigaciones Cientí­ficas \u2013 SINCHI, el cual inició con la identificación de focos de calor en la región amazónica., Aplicación Web para la descarga, almacenamiento y procesamiento de datos geoespaciales, con la que se puede consultar la información generada por el Laboratorio de Sistemas de Información Geográfica y Sensoramiento Remoto - Laboratorio de SIG y SR dentro de la plataforma tecnológica del Sistema de Información Ambiental Territorial de la Amazonia colombiana - SIATAC.
